Rise Above the Problem

Rise Above the Problem

balloon      (2 excerpts from Vernon Howard)

“There may be times when a problem in finances or human relations seems like a mountain in comparison to the particle of truth you presently possess. Don’t believe it; not for one second. Behind that particle is the Whole Truth, which does not give power to a problem, as un-alert minds do. Open yourself to the vastness of the Whole Truth. Start by refusing to listen to the noise of a problem, for this enables you to hear an instructive message originating in a silent place above the problem.”

“The secret for a heavenly existence is to learn how to discontinue yourself from moment to moment. This means that you are mentally vigilant at all times so you can see with your spiritual eye every thought as it enters your mind and then be very careful that thought does not form an “I”, a “self”, a “me”, a “mine”.

The noisier a problem is, the more bluff is behind it. Thank Goodness we have Vernon telling us these truths over and over again so that eventually we will remember them and have a nice, pleasant life.

Easy to forget we all have a choice minute by minute to separate from thoughts and feelings that promise rich rewards but don’t deliver and leave us totally exhausted as the day comes to an end. Becoming conscious of these harmful forces and separating from them, so we aren’t their victim is what we really seek…to say it another way “peace of mind.” It will protest to the observing/watching but, Do it anyways because the thoughts will continue to say that this awareness is not important. You and I are the only real problem we have ever had. Great News!

Do this everyday, that is this observation of our thoughts and feelings. On Monday you might find irrateing thoughts about everything, On Tuesday thoughts that are telling you to hurry about even when your not late to anything, On Wednesday a feeling that life is pointless, see the whole “You” show. And remember “Life is not a race but a school for your higher education”.

What I love about Vernon’s teaching most of all is they are so easy to prove for myself. When I put to action the exercises the rewards are instantaneous!
